The formal preparation of children for the Sacraments of Penance/Reconciliation generally occurs when they are seven years old, in the second grade. It is in conjunction with the Sacrament of Holy Communion. It involves ongoing participation in the regular parish Religious Education program provided for all families and children. In addition, there is a specific series of activities in preparation for each sacrament including both work at home and in the parish.
