EIM- Ethics and Integrity in Ministry

Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM)

Importance of EIM

Bishop Joe Vasquez and the Diocese of Austin are committed to preventing the harm of any of God's people and supporting those who have experienced abuse. Go to www.austindiocese.org/eim to learn about reporting requirements and procedures for what to do if you know or have reasonable cause to believe that abuse of a minor, elderly adult, or adult with a disability has occurred, or if you have concerns about other unethical behavior by church personnel or volunteers.

The more people in our diocese who are trained to spot and report abuse and inappropriate behavior, the safer our parishes, schools, and communities will be for children and vulnerable adults.

To learn more about EIM Policies and compliance requirements, contact your parish/school EIM Site Administrator.

Compliance Requirements

To be compliant, one must have an account with VIRTUS.org, attend one initial live training, complete online refresher training, complete online refresher training every three years thereafter, and consent to a background check every three years.

Pastoral support for victims of sexual abuse

The Diocese of Austin is committed to providing confidential and compassionate care to victims of sexual abuse, particularly if the abuse was committed by clergy or a church representative. If you have experienced abuse by someone representing the Catholic Church, please contact the diocesan coordinator of victim assistance and pastoral support at (512) 949-2447.
