Year of Prayer

May 27, 2023 - May 18, 2024

Parish Transition:

What are we doing?

Like parishes across the country, we recognize that our current way of being a local Catholic Church is not producing active or missionary disciples of Jesus Christ in the manner in which we are called by the Lord. In an effort to become faithful and effective to the commission of Christ, we have launched into a period of prayer, discernment, retooling and investing. At the heart of this effort is the recognition that we need to become more effective at battling the enemy that seeks to destroy the Church and our families. Thus we are pausing to discern so that we can help every member of our parish encounter the fullness of a relationship with God.

The following are four key actions we are embarking on and ask for your participation in them:

1. A year of prayer - to discern from God what we should do. He is the only one who knows how to overcome the powerful influence of Satan working in the world in our culture.

2. Pause Faith Formation for all levels for 6 - 12 months - to train and rest the faithful disciples so that they can continue to joyfully serve.

3. Train the Core - We will train our leadership and *core disciples in the processes of Evangelization and Discipleship so that we can all work intentionally toward the same things. Anyone interested in being a part of the core team are welcome to sign up using this link or by calling the office.  Training Date: June 23&24, 2023 or July 21&22, 2023

*Core Disciples - For those who have never heard that term, a core disciple is anyone in the parish who is serving in some capacity. From committees to councils, from catechist to lector, from knights to parish staff. If you have been helping then you are a part of the core of our parish and we are grateful for your help.

4. Investing in our Adults - Our bishops have been calling for local parishes to lead their people to “encounter Jesus Christ.” In an effort to restore our adults as the true leaders for each other and our youth, we have two retreats planned for them. Adults can't give what they don’t have. We want to make sure that every adult in our parish understands what this encounter is and means. Retreat Date: August 25-26, 2023, January 19-21, 2024.

Pray with Us

Heavenly Father,

You invite each of us to share in the life and ministry of your Son, Jesus. Send us your Holy Spirit to form our parish family as a community of missionary disciples. Teach us how to hear Jesus, to love Jesus, to walk with Jesus, and to share your gift of salvation with everyone we meet. Through the witness and intercession of Mary and St. Patrick, guide me to deepen my commitment as a disciple of Jesus. Lead our parish to grow as an intentional community, in our giving, praying and service; committed to go and announce the Gospel of the Lord. We ask these blessings in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ.

Amen.
